Pepper Mill and Salt Shaker

These are made of cherry wood. It is a very durable wood, has lovely color that deepens with age and develops a lovely patina with use.

This wood came from Kentucky. There was a dead limb in the tree and this caused the darkly stained streaks you see in the wood.

The salt shaker is actually a mistake. I made the pepper grinder first and then went back to the shop and tried to make the salt shaker from memory. I measured incorrectly as the shaker is all one piece while the pepper grinder is two separate pieces. This accounts for the squat appearance of the salt shaker and I have since corrected my mistake.
