Gilded Onion Domed Box

This is another Richard Raffin inspired box. It resembles the domes of the Kremlin and other middle eastern structures including mosques. The lid has been gold leafed as were the domes of so many of the mosques and churches of the area.

Applying gold leaf is not so hard. You paint the surface with a size and as it becomes tacky you press the extremely thin gold leaf mounted on thin paper to the surface. The gold leaf adheres wherever the surface is sticky.

Gold surfaces are another thing that give upliftment. It has been used to adorn man-made objects for a very long time. The advantage of gold leaf over other metals is that gold leaf never tarnishes.
